Throughout the latter part of the 1980s, the issue of substance abuse testing became increasingly important to employers and human resource professionals. In addition, the growing problem of AIDS and its impact on the workplace provided a related area of concern. In this work, Donald Klinger offers an overview as well as an interpretation and analysis of what human resource professionals should know about the topics of drug abuse and AIDS. The book carefully details the effects these problems have on the way business is done, the costs of doing business, and the policies and practices of human resource management. Following a general introduction that lays the foundation for the discussion, the book is divided into two main sections.
