KATHERINE ZOEPF lived in Syria and Lebanon from 2004 to 2007 while working as a stringer forThe New York Times; she also worked in theTimes's Baghdad bureau in 2008. Since 2010, she has been a fellow at the New America Foundation. Her work has appeared inThe New York Observer, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times Magazine,andThe New Yorker, among other publications. She is a graduate of Princeton University and the London School of Economics.
