This manuscript explores the experiences of three prominent Harlem renaissance women before, during, and after a 1932 trip during which 22 members of the Harlem renaissance traveled to Russia to star in a German-Russian film production about racism in the United Stated. The author argues this trip marked a fundamental change in women's perspectives and experiences of life in the U.S.
