This book is specifically written for the general reader who is interested in agriculture. It offers a historical overview of the two major periods of agriculture, the Neolithic Revolution, which occurred when humans initially domesticated plants and animals, and the Neoclaric Revolution, which began the introduction of fossil fuel into agriculture in the twentieth century.
ERNEST L. SCHUSKY is a Professor in the Anthropology Department at Southern Illinois University. He has been involved in agricultural research projects in India, Jamacia, Cuba, Mexico, Taiwan, South Korea, and China. Dr. Schusky has also published on the famines in the Sahel and is currently working on an anthropological perspective on agriculture and the food policies of developing and developed countries.
