Author Bio

Dr Sarbeswar Sahoo is Associate Professor of Sociology at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He was Charles Wallace Fellow at Queens University Belfast, UK and Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at Max Weber Kolleg, University of Erfurt, Germany. His research interests include: state, civil society and democratization theory, and sociology/anthropology of religion. He is the author of: Civil Society and Democratization in India: Institutions, Ideologies and Interests (2013) and Pentecostalism and Politics of Conversion in India (2018). He has also edited (with Peter Berger) Godroads: Modalities of Conversion in India (forthcoming). Professor Paul Chaney is Professor of Politics and Policy at Cardiff University, UK. He is Co-Director of Wales Institute of Social, Economic Research and Data (WISERD). He has authored and edited 14 books and written over sixty papers in international peer reviewed journals. His research and teaching interests include: territorial politics, public policy-making, civil society, and equality and human rights.
