Reviews

This excellent and unique bibliography consists of more than 1,000 entries on various facets of black immigration. The literature chosen represents the full scope of writing on the topic--from general interest and literary sources to more scholarly works, including some dissertations. Entries for about half the entries have been annotated, and the citations are well organized into 19 clear and convenient categories or subcategories. Among the subjects covered are ethnicity and identity, immigration legislation and policies, demography and settlement, political activity, and the various black immigrant groups: African, Cuban, Puerto Rican, and so on. The care that went into the book is reflected in its subject and author indexes, and in the fact that Superintendent of Documents numbers have been provided for many of the federal publications listed. Highly recommended for most public and academic libraries, community college and up.-Choice
