These are the stories of a United States Marine and the battles and sights that he still remembers as he rapidly approaches his 90th birthday.
He is 'One of the Proud, One of the Brave; A Marine'! His stories like so many others are told with memories forged by an 18 year old's mind and heart and the bravery of the American Indian heritage that he carried with him into the Pacific and then on to Japan and China. While we cannot forget that the war was going on, simultaneously, in Europe and the Pacific, these are my father's stories of the war fought in the Pacific. My father was there; in Guam, Guadalcanal, Eniwetok, and Okinawa, and in China, to witness Japan sign their symbolic surrender for then, Chinese Ruler, Chiang Kai-shek and it is as real today as if he were there yesterday.
Ms. Logan lives in Palm Springs, California with her husband and two dogs.
