Based on the exhibition that will tour eastern Australia during rugby league's centenary year, 2008, this book focuses on the treasures of the game, from wellthumbed footy cards to the coveted premiership trophy. Introduced by Darren Lockyer, League of Legends will relive some of the great moments in the game's history and trace how it has evolved over the past 100 years. The book features essays by well-known Australian writers and journalists, including Thomas Keneally, Ian Heads, Debbie Spillane, Sean Fagan, Geoff Armstrong, Tracey Holmes and David Middleton.
Guy Hansen is a senior curator in the Australian Society and Culture Program at the National Museum of Australia. He has also curated a number of major retrospectives of Australian political cartooning.
