In February 2013 he joined Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Pete Dye, and closefriend Rees Jones as the only men in golf history to holdthe non-playing equivalent of golf's major championshipsgrand slam as recipients of the highest honor bestowedby the American Society of Golf Course Architects(Donald Ross Award), the Golf Course SuperintendentsAssociation of America (Old Tom Morris Award), and theGolf Course Builder's Association of America (Don A.Rossi Award).
