Bill Casey has been writing about the humour and heartbreak of racing for over half a century, including a 30-year stint at the Sydney Sun where he was Racing Editor, Sports Editor and finally Deputy Editor. During that period he also wrote a lifestyle column in his 'spare time' and had an Australia-wide devoted and loyal following. Next came a series of nationally syndicated columns on lifestyle and sport, including his Sunday Sun-Herald column 'Tales of the Turf', which became one of racing's best-read columns. Now his most popular behind-the-scenes stories of all the great names in racing - the owners, trainers, jockeys and thoroughbreds as well as the quirky, colourful and charismatic characters who support and follow them - have been put together in this collection capturing his wit, charm and inimitable style of reporting TALES OF THE TURF.
Bill Casey was Turf Editor of the major Sydney metropolitan daily newspaper The Sun for many years before being promoted first to Sports Editor and finally Deputy Editor. He has also been the Editor of Silks Magazine and is currently feature writer on racing for the Sydney Sun- Herald and a nationally syndicated columnist on sport and lifestyle.
