This is the story of the legendary circuit where many of the greatest names in motorsport have raced, from Damon Hill to David Coulthard and Colin McRae to Steve Hislop. Explore the last fifty years with the cars, drivers and those who make it happen beyond the tarmac.
Sharing unique insights into this remarkable venue, Knockhill's 50th Anniversary book charts the early years of local farmer Tom Kinnaird, who dreamed of transforming his land in the 1970s before long-term owner Derek Butcher took over the task in 1983. During his forty years in charge, Derek and his team have continually invested in the track and facilities to make Britain's most northerly working motorsport racetrack the iconic and hugely popular venue it is today.
Filled with incredible images from Knockhill's extensive photographic archive, this special anniversary edition includes the championships, the action, the drivers, the classic races, record-breaking performances and incredible cars and bikes. Each decade has had its own legendary moments, now brought back vividly to life in this beautifully presented volume.
Knockhill has held the position of Scotland's National Motorsport Centre for over forty years and is and host to the UK's top motorsport and bike events, bands such as Kaiser Chiefs and Status Quo, video games and has appeared on television shows including Top Gear and Idris Elba: No Limits. It is the only FIA approved circuit in Scotland and the main circuit offers a range of track-driving experiences including supercar, formula racing and karting experiences.
