When Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward design a home, their goal is to make it appear as though the person has lived there for a long time. As the designer for Hollywood powerhouses, supermodels, and rock stars like Brie Larson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dakota Johnson, Lily Aldridge and Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon, Karen Elson, and many more, Pierce & Ward's rooms tell stories and invite anyone in them to look closer at cherished pieces, textures, and an inimitably artful blend of classic and fanciful touches.
Stately striped wallpaper mixes with French florals. Brass lion head bookends sit beside trays inlaid with glinting mother-of-pearl. Milk-glass globes hang in trios down hallways like glowing moons to guide one's path. Humble pieces from eBay and lovingly worn textiles mix with museum-quality art and family photos. There is a beauty in the unfolding of a room that takes the eye dancing from one piece to the next, swirling over velvets of peach and gold, gliding over glass and marble and stopping to take in the homeowner's precious sentimental favourites. This book will teach readers about organised abundance and un-gaudy decadence, with a dash of restraint for good measure. This book is an evocative and inspiring ode to the art of more.
"From the very first pages of this debut book from AD100 firm Pierce Ward, readers are in for a treat. However, it may not be for the minimalist-minded. It kicks off with an ode to the art of more, and everything that followsincluding the graphic design of the book itself, which features ornate lettering, bold stripes, and lots of historical patternslives up to that ethos. Designers Emily Ward and Louisa Pierce spill their style secretsthey favor antique Persian and Turkish rugs, and avoid using too much wood in an interior, as it can veer into a lodge vibewhile giving readers a glimpse into certain favorite projects, including the homes of A-list clients Melanie Griffith, Josh Brolin, and Kate Hudson."
