She guides readers through various seasons to view these mountain homes in all kinds of weather. Minimal text is sprinkled in between pictures of cozy rooms and spectacular views. Tips for creating ones own lodge are peppered throughout the book, though some readers may doubt the practicality of filling their homes with hand-carved Tyrolean chairs and dry cleanonly faux fur blankets. Most of the recommendations seem aimed at readers who might be looking to turn a vacation home or investment property into a moneymaking Alpine haven, which the author herself has done.
