The book presents a range of spaces by the design stars of today, alongside rooms that no longer exist but that are remembered by the design cognoscenti. Groundbreaking interiors include Brooke Astor's elegant library by Albert Hadley; Gloria Vanderbilt's sublime patchwork bedroom; Donald Judd's dramatically spare art-filled loft; Adolfo's opulent uptown rooms; a Peter Marino-designed penthouse atop the Four Seasons hotel; Susan Gutfreund's own lavish winter garden; Jamie Drake's stunning designs for the mayor's residence, Gracie Mansion; and strikingly different approaches to rooms at the famous apartment house The Dakota, from Joanne de Palma and Ward Bennett.
"Stunning photographs and explanatory text offer a rare peak at the handiwork of prominent designers and architects who created Brooke Astors library, for instance, and revived Gracie Mansion." -The New York Times
