Laurie Ossman, Director of Museum Affairs at The PreservationSociety of Newport County, spent every summer growing up on her grandfather'sCharolais farm in West Virginia. As Director of Woodlawn and Frank Lloyd Wright'sPope-Leighey House in Alexandria, Virginia, she worked with restaurateur MichaelBabin to reinvent the historic site as the headquarters of The Arcadia Center forSustainable Agriculture (www.arcadiafood.org). She is the author of GreatHouses of the South and co-author (with Heather Ewing) of Carrre and Hastings:The Masterworks, as well as dozens of articles and reviews in both popularmagazines and scholarly journals.
Debra A. McClane is a private consultant inarchitectural history and historic preservation. A native of Botetourt County,Virginia, she grew up on the family farm, where her father continues to raiseAngus cattle.
