The first book from acclaimed Brooklyn-based interior designer, Kathryn Scott, whose handcrafted interiors evoke a sense of serenity, harmony, and simplicity.
Kathryn Scott has been working in the interior design industry since 1980. She grew up in Texas, and studied in Dallas and Rome, earning a B.F.A in studio art as well as a B.F.A in Italian Studies. She also attended the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design in New York City, and has received several awards for her paintings. In NYC, she initially apprenticed with Hans Krieks, then with Leila and Massimo Vignelli. Scott bought an apartment in a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights. Her restoration led her to the realization that she wanted to pursue interior design, and she opened her own firm in 1994. Her work has appeared in House Beautiful, AD, and Southern Accents, among others. She has received four awards from The Homebook Design Excellence as well as Home of the Year from Metropolitan Magazine. Also known for her porcelain designs, Kathryn lives with her husband, Wenda Gu, a world-renowned artist, and their daughter, Simone, in Brooklyn Heights, New York.
