In 2009, Hamburg-based architectural firm Jastrzembski Kotulla began reconstructing the majestic Herrenhausen Palace, which was levelled in World War II, and restoring it in line with a design by royal builder George Ludwig Friedrich Laves. Known until now for its magnificent baroque gardens alone, Herrenhausen Palace and Gardens will soon be restored to their full original glory.
Bernd Adam is an architectural historian, who developed the plans for the reconstruction of the Laves facade of Herrenhausen Palace. Oliver Herwig is a freelance journalist whose work focuses on contemporary architecture and design. Iris Lauterbach is a research assistant at the Zentralinstitut fr Kunstgeschichte, Munich. Georg Ruppelt is a literary scholar and director of the Gottfried Willhelm Leibniz Library.
