Arne Jacobsen is one of the few architects who is renowned for both his radical furniture designs and his architecture career. The SAS Royal Hotel and the National Bank are two of his most important buildings as an architect, while his Egg chair, Series 7 chair, The Ant chair and The Swan chair have long since become icons of Danish furniture design. New features of Arne Jacobsen's furniture design in the '50s included his organic lines and sculptural elements, which are abundantly visible in The Swan and The Egg chairs. Not one straight line disturbs the soft curves of these creations, and this departure from straight geometrical lines is one of the cornerstones of Arne Jacobsen's furniture. In this sense, while the significance of Arne Jacobsen's buildings was limited, his furniture and other design works have become a part of national and international heritage.
