Knowles worked for 13 years as a patternmaker and production manager for Marie Clayden Inc. in Los Gatos,CA, and taught for nine years at West Valley College in the department of Fashion Design and Apparel Technology. She has had a consuming interest in vintage clothing and costuming since childhood and possesses a large Edwardian and Victorian clothing collection that includes pieces dating back to the 1840s.
