The prolific output of the Welsh composer Alun Hoddinott, artistic director of the Cardiff Festival of Twentieth Century Music, is here documented in a catalogue of 278 musical works, plus derived pieces, composed between 1946 and 1991. Organised by genre, the compositions are annotated with information on commissioning, dedication, instrumentation, duration, manuscript and publication, recordings and performances. The works catalogue is cross-referenced to a discography section and annotated bibliography, which includes numerous reviews and writings by the composer. An introductory biography, alphabetical and chronological lists of compositions, and a general index complete the volume.
