Description

A guide to the music of one of Britain's most prominent living composers, Peter Maxwell Davies, this volume contains a listing of his works plus a comprehensive discography and a bibliography of nearly 1000 items. Each entry is keyed to the discography and the annotated bibliography. This work should be of interest to scholars and students as well as anyone interested in 20th-century composers. Davies currently holds the posts of Associate Conductor/Composer with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic, among other positions. Moreover, he has been a strong voice in support of music education in Britain and has composed many works for children and young performers. When he taught music to children, he encouraged them to compose, believing that most have a natural musical ability.
