-You're having some kind of crisis.
-It's called being fifty. You must be having it too.
Hilary once protested at Greenham. Now her protests tend to focus on persuading her teenage daughter to go out fully clothed.
A frank and funny family drama questioning parental anxieties and life after fifty, Jumpy by April De Angelis premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in October 2011. This production was revived at the Duke of York's Theatre, London, in August 2012.
April De Angelis's plays include Jumpy, Wild East, A Laughing Matter, The Warwickshire Testimony, The Positive Hour, Headstrong, Playhouse Creatures, Hush, Soft Vengeance, Amongst Friends, The Life and Times of Fanny Hill (adapted from the James Cleland novel), Ironmistress and Wuthering Heights (adapted from Emily Bronte's novel). Her work for BBC Radio includes Visitants, The Outlander, which won the Writers' Guild Award 1992, and Cash Cows for the Woman's Hour serial. For opera: Flight with composer Jonathan Dove, and the libretto for Silent Twins.
