Description

The inside story of the making of Mean Girls and our enduring 20-year obsession with it

Iconic teen comedy Mean Girls might be 20 years old but, somehow, its as relevant now as ever. What made this adaptation of a parenting guide by a little-known SNL writer so successful And why, two decades later, can we still just not stop quoting it

Drawing on exclusive interviews with the director, cast and crew, Jennifer Keishin Armstrong takes us behind the scenes of the films genesis, production and release and provides the first deep-dive into why Mean GIrls became such a cultural phenomenon. From how it shaped the Millennial generation and defined female friendship for years to come, to how it has intertwined with tabloid, meme and LGBTQ+ culture, So Fetch is an engaging, insightful and unmissable exploration of Mean Girls long-lasting legacy.

Get in, loser. Were going back to 2004.

Author Bio

Jennifer Armstrong grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, where she spent most of her time putting on shows in her parents' garage, studying TV Guide, devouring Sweet Valley High books, lip-synching to Debbie Gibson, and memorising every note of every George Michael song. This finally came in handy when she got a job at Entertainment Weekly, where she worked for a decade. She now writes for several publications, including Billboard, New York, Refinery29, and Dame. She is the author of Sex and the City and Us: How Four Single Women Changed the Way We Think, Live, and Love, the New York Times bestseller Seinfeldia: How a Show About Nothing Changed Everything, and Mary and Lou and Rhoda and Ted: And All the Brilliant Minds Who Made The Mary Tyler Moore Show a Classic.
