The film adapts the original Broadway musical by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Jerome Robbins.
Teenagers Tony and Maria, despite having affiliations with rival street gangs, the white Jets and Puerto Rican Sharks, fall in love in 1950s New York City. The cast includes: Ansel Elgort as Tony; Rachel Zegler as Maria; Ariana DeBose as Anita; David Alvarez as Bernardo; and Rita Moreno.
Laurent Bouzereau is a filmmaker, producer, and author. He is the director and coproducer of the HBO/Amblin Television film Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind and of the acclaimed Netflix/Amblin Television series Five Came Back. He is also the author of several books on cinema, including The Art of Bond and Hitchcock: Piece by Piece.
