A list of 2,475 productions of the Federal Theatre Project (1935-39), based on its records on deposit in the library of George Mason University. Computer-produced in a clear, simple typeface, the main portion is a production catalog, listing each production alphabetically by title and assigning a unique control number. Thus there are separate entries for multiple productions of the same play. For each entry are given: date and place of production, individuals associated with it (excluding performers), classification, and holdings. For many productions, records are scant. Separate indexes are provided for most of these categories, all keyed to the title of the play and the control number. A brief history of the project, focusing chiefly on its political problems, by Lorraine A. Brown, administrator of the collection, opens the volume. A valuable but very specialized research tool for those involved in American theatre history of the 20th century. ...-Choice
