A true outback adventure, with vivid characters, both equine and human, and lots humour.Lizzie Spender felt that at the age of 53 she had spent her life avoiding risks. So when a friend offered her a horse - one she had to catch from a mob of brumbies running across a Kimberley property almost the size of England - Lizzie knew she had to accept the gift and the challenge. Her aunt had left her some money - enough for Lizzie to take herself off on a holiday, perhaps buy something nice, or finance this trip to the outback to catch her wild horse. Lizzie knew immediately where Aunt Christine's gift would go. Since she was a little girl she had wanted a horse. This was the dream of a lifetime and she was finally going to make it come true.WILD HORSE DIARIES is the very personal story of Lizzie's determination to achieve something that many people would have thought was simply mad or worse, very dangerous. She writes with wit, honesty and an immediacy that will let you feel you are with her under the hot Western Australian sun.
Lizzie Spender spent her childhood in England, Ireland and California surrounded by horses. Her family could not afford to buy her a horse of her own, but as a child was always invited to join friends for holidays in the countryside and ride their ponies. Trained as an actress she has worked in publishing, journalism, film and theatre. In recent years Lizzie has published three acclaimed pasta cookbooks. She is married to the actor Barry Humphries.
