Born and raised in Belgrade, Boogie began photographing rebellion and unrest during the civil war that ravaged his country during the 1990s. It defined his style and attraction to the darker sides of human existence as his archives reveal the evils that erode the urban space with impoverished dispair. Boogie does not spare the viewer any social taboos as he shows the daily struggle of the people whose lives he infiltrates: those neo-nazis, gypsies, police and protestors that defy the glamour of urban life.
"It is impossible to view Boogie's work without thinking of it as fearless. Yet it is also original, poetic, cinematic, and above all deeply generous." -- Andrew Jarecki
