In 2005, veteran A&R music executive, Michael Alago, left music to pursue his other love: photography. He spent years photographing portraits, models, and musicians, but also intimately capturing candid Polaroid moments from the interweavings of his personal and professional lives. His first three bestselling male erotica booksRough Gods, Brutal Truth, and Beautiful Imperfectionswere published with German Bruno Gmnder, and thrilled extensively with his ongoing series of erotically charged images that are as powerful as they are seductive. With Polaroid Encounters, Alago profiles over two hundred posed and casual shots, showcasing some of his most engaging and revealing images to date.
As a music executive at Elektra Records, Michael Alago is best known for singing Metallica in the summer of 1984, changing the entire landscape of rock 'n' roll and heavy metal. He continued to work in A&R for both Palm Pictures and Geffen Records, thrilled to executive-produce albums by Cyndi Lauper, Public Image Ltd, White Zombie, and Nina Simone. In 2017, a documentary, Who the Fuck Is That Guy: The Fabulous Journey of Michael Alago, directed by Drew Stone and produced by Michael Alex on Alago's wildly successful career in music was released in theaters and on Netflix. He lives in New York City.
