Description

Scott Mead captures the physical and emotional wonder of air travel with his awe-inspiring images of the world above the clouds. World traveller and acclaimed photographer Scott Mead documents gorgeous vistas from above the clouds. Mead views this series as an "attempt to share an overall internal and external voyage and its insights, thoughts, and feelings." Mountains scattered with cloud shadow, the ripples of distant ocean waves, glittering city lights, and the abstract geography of farmland and ice-covered ocean are all beautifully captured in this dreamy collection of aerial photography. In an introductory essay Mead discusses his photographic career as an expression of a richly lived life of exploration and discovery. AUTHOR: Scott Mead is an American-born photographer, philanthropist, and investor living in London. A photographer for many years before becoming a partner and managing director at Goldman Sachs, he returned to full-time photography over ten years ago. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Photographers Gallery in London and is a trustee at the International Center of Photography in New York City. 80 colour illustrations

Author Bio

Scott Mead is an American-born photographer and philanthropist living in London. A photographer for many years before a career in investment banking, he returned to photography over ten years ago after rediscovering boxes in his attic of his large-format negatives and prints, unopened for decades. Numerous exhibitions and group shows have since followed, and his works are held in many private and institutional collections around the world. Scott studied with renowned photographers William Eggleston and Emmet Gowin, both of whom have been important influences on his work.
