Recaptioning Congo offers a new perspective on Congo's colonial history through a nuanced re-examination of historical photographs. Six writers and a visual artist, led by Sandrine Colard of Rutgers University, contemplate an important collection of historical images and provide them with insightful, contemporary 'captions'.
