Description

This beautiful book records and celebrates one of the world's leading collections of contemporary glass. From translucent sculptural shapes to life-size figurative pieces, the range of work shows the amazing variety of effects that can be achieved in this versatile medium. It showcases outstanding new work by over 60 artists from North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia, featuring sculptural glass by some of the most celebrated names in this exciting and dynamic contemporary art form, including Dale Chihuly, Tessa Clegg, Bernard Dejonghe, Klaus Moje, William Morris, David Reekie, Ann Robinson, Koichiro Yamamoto and Toots Zynsky. All are illustrated with superb new photography. Stunning images are accompanied by information on the artists' careers and a short commentary, based on the artists' own statements or contemporary critical comment. An accessible introduction puts the works in context for the general reader.
