Bernd Zimmer, born in 1948, is one of the most important representatives of Germany's "Junge Wilde" (Wild Youth) artists. He has developed an unmistakeable style that is characterised by a combination of free, abstract painting and representationalism that is always linked to nature. This catalogue is the first to provide a comprehensive overview of his most recent series of paintings, "Schwimmendes Licht" (Swimming Light). Bernd Zimmer's oeuvre is shaped by a profound experience of nature and the world. He has developed a broad spectrum of subjects in extensive groups of works in recent years: from the "Cosmos" paintings via waterfalls, shore scenes and dense vegetation to freely floating light reflexes in the "Schwimmendes Licht" series. Entitled "Alles fliet" (Everything Flows), the publication accompanying the exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Heidenheim und the Museum Angerlehner in Upper Austria presents a selection of these cycles. The flowing transitions give expression on the canvas to the internal coherence of his painting as an eventful implementation of natural events and perception.
Since 2013, the Angerlehner Museum in Thalheim, Germany, presents the private art collection of K. R. Heinz J. Angerlehner.
