Description

Contrary to modern display and popular belief, classical sculpture was not pristine white, but brightly coloured. This book allows you to (re-)colour some of the most famous artworks of classical antiquity (ranging in colour difficulty from beginner to advanced), while providing information on the use of colour in free-standing and architectural sculpture.

Author Bio

Dr. Lisa Trentin specializes in the visual culture and social history of ancient Rome. She has studied ancient art, especially sculpture, and its modern reception throughout her career. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences, accepted leadership roles within the academy (formerly President of the Women's Network for the Classical Association of Canada) and is a published author (out now: The Hunchback in Hellenistic and Roman Art, Bloomsbury, 2015). She has worked in the Departments of Historical Studies and Visual Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga, Canada, teaching courses in classical art, civilization, history, and myth.
