Description

When the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, the limits it had created did not disappear- they became less tangible, less spatial, less easily defined, and more permeable. In the 21st century, the symbolism of the wall remains, and its associated attitudes and beliefs continue to play out socially. Inflection Volume 7 Boundaries offers provocations to the discipline of architecture, which explore how borders, both tangible and intangible, are manifested in physical space. Inflection is a student-run design journal based at the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne. Born from a desire to stimulate debate and generate ideas, it advocates the discursive voice of students, academics and practitioners. This volume includes contributions from authors Peggy Deamer (dean position at Yale University) , Wang Shu 'dean of the Architecture Faculty of Central Academy of Fine Arts, China" and Ma Yansong (principal of MAD an international practice). Founded in 2013, Inflection is a home for provocative writing-a place to share ideas and engage with contemporary discourse.
