Presenting an exciting portfolio of new artwork, Denis Robinson includes interviews with artists working in such areas as mixed media, contemporary fibre art, wood sculpture, ceramics, glass and table or wall sculpture, as well as paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolour. In his latest collection of contemporary art, Denis notes a distinct change in art style, with trends away from traditional landscape into themes of Kiwiana, nostalgia and fantasy, with elements of influence from European painters like Chagall, Magritte and Dali. Exploring the pages of New Zealand Gallery provides an up-to-date overview of contemporary art produced in this country. Comprehensive gallery and individual artist listings make this book an ideal reference for anyone wishing to view and purchase New Zealand art today.
Denis Robinson has compiled six art books, including the bestselling New Zealand: A Painted Country (2007, reprinted twice), New Zealand on Canvas, and New Zealand in Watercolour with New Holland Publishers. He is in close contact with a great number of New Zealand's practising artists, and is acknowledged as a leading authority on their work. He has held managerial positions in major art dealer galleries in Auckland, and he initiated the inaugural Auckland Art Fair (2005). Denis lives on the Hibiscus Coast and operates his own art and design consultancy, connecting artists with patrons and art lovers.
