Description

In 1977, six friends formed the Textile Study Group of New York. Today, the group has grown to over two hundred members from around the world. This book tells its history and showcases its artists. 168 TSGNY members celebrate their diverse interests -- from sculpture to fashion, slow stitch to surface design, installations, politics and performance. An essay by artist and author Joanne Mattera surveys the increased stature of fiber in the contemporary art world. In this edition, you'll find familiar names, as well as discover many new artists. If you're interested in the broad scope of fiber art today, this book is for you.
