What do you imagine dogs are thinking
Author and illustrator Leon Robertson finds himself pondering that question often and decided to address it in his work, ARF & Soul. This thoroughly entertaining book was inspired by language, (human) social issues, and philosophy. Believing that dogs are often left out of the "Big Picture" when it comes to the decisions that impact their life, Leon puts them back in, suggesting that dogs have more wisdom than we give them credit for. Through his illustrations, Leon emphasizes that dogs have a wide range of emotions, dreams and desires. They are more than just our cute, furry, four-legged friends. They are members of our society and want to be treated as such. They get very little say in the decisions that affect their lives, but perhaps they have more wisdom to share than we give them credit for.
Robertson's debut book is the perfect gift for dog lovers everywhere.
Leon Robertson is a self-taught artist that works with pen, ink and mixed media. He is an author, nature-lover and of course dog-lover. The things people say often inspire him and those phrases become the titles for his art. Life events and social issues often make up the subject and "soul" of his illustrations. Leon's background in the military and over 15 years of retail merchandising adds to the detail and creativity found in his work. The experience he's had styling windows, mannequins and store displays for luxury retailers, contributes to the sense of design and "fashion forwardness" of the characters in his ARF & Soul series. Whether through pen and ink or mixed media, he enjoys the journey of creating new characters and sharing their stories. Leon is now based in Little Rock, Arkansas. His new muses are two rescue dogs named Stuart and Dot. Stuart is a black lab and Dot is a border collie husky mix.
