Olena newkryta is the second winner of the Kunsthalle Wien Prize sponsored by the Academy of fine Arts and the University of Applied Arts, awarded for outstanding final projects at the two universities of art in vienna. for the first time, the two laureates Olena newkryta (University of Applied Arts) and Marlene Maier (Academy of fine Arts) are exhibiting together. Both artists superimpose documentation, fiction, and reality in their media installations, while each simultaneously bringing social interactions into a comprehensible format. The works of Olena newkryta take up the idea of touch and translate it into the medium of photography. Her works mediate between the physicality of the photographic material, the aesthetic presence, and the reference to the ephemeral. In her multimedia installation folding unfolding refolding, Newkryta creates several possibilities for viewing the real in order to create a visual language of the touch, creating a connection between haptic and visual perception. The catalog features installation shots, a fold-out poster, and interview between artist and Kunsthalle Wien director nicolaus Schafhausen.
