"On the Beach" is a compilation of original paintings by Nancy Tankersley, featuring delightful compositions of families, their interactions and the unspoken communication of simple gestures. Divided into five categories, Nancy presents her vignettes of parents with their babies, children making sand castles, sea shell discoveries, chats with friends and relaxing moments that conjure an immediate personal memory of enjoying time on the beach.
Nancy Tankersley began her artistic career as a portrait painter. In 1986 she began combining her interest in the figure with that of the landscape, resulting in a series of figurative beach paintings that gained recognition and acceptance in galleries coast to coast. Currently, as she searches for the unpredictable, Nancy moves between landscapes, figures and still life. She believes that the same underlying principles can be found in all good paintings, regardless of subject or style. Nancy is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the American Society of Marine Painters. She is a juried member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters and the Salmagundi Club in NYC. Founder and Director of the Easton Studio, she teaches weekly classes and hosts weekend workshops in Easton; and teaches workshops at other locations in the U.S. and abroad.
