An artist in the studio is geared towards young adults who have an interest in the foundations of color theory. It is meant to introduce the subject and inspire readers to investigate topics further by exploring art and what colors are.
As a freshman in college, Becca had little background in the subject. This inspired her to write An artist in the studio for the purpose of early exposure to the topics presented in the book. Color theory is essential in the fundamentals of young artists. Creating an accessible and meaningful experience for the reader that is more personal than a traditional textbook. This was an incentive for the publication of this piece.
Rebecca (Becca) Bilski is a senior at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania pursuing her BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in Illustration, with minors in both Creative Writing and Drawing.
This project was greatly influenced by Becca's years at Edinboro University. Evenings spent in the studio alone, left her to lament on hardships which embedded self-doubt into herself and her work.
As a working, full-time student, her art education remains the top priority. She knew that in order to create authentic works of art, she had to embark on a mission of self-discovery and personal growth, to create anything to be proud of. Tapping into her color theory education and experiences that sparked emotion, she was able to express herself through art and writing.
